We spent holy week in Pangasinan and since we don’t have any itinerary, my sister saw a place in the internet and invited us to check out Mt. Zion in Bugallon.
We woke up around 5am and arrive at our destination before 6am. Bugallon is 16.26 km from Calasiao and 197 km from Manila. It has scenic mountains where Mt. Zion is nestled but it is a bit complicated finding the place since there are no street signs in the area. So once you’re in Bugallon proper (you will see a park with a big Carabao statue), you can ask anybody for the direction.
Mt. Zion Pilgrim Mountain is located in Brgy. Laguit Padilla, Bugallon. It is a 52 hectare religious site with a chapel, retreat house and station of the cross with life-size statues depicting the Passion and Death of Jesus Christ. The place is still being developed and it is a good venue to meditate and reflect not only on Lenten season but any day of the year. Vehicles can go up and park besides the life-size-statue of the last supper.
We weren’t able to bring a prayer booklet but fortunately we saw some devotees who have just started and joined them in praying, station by station while going up the mountain until we reached the last station.
We started past 6 am and finished praying around 7 am. The sun has finally ascended but it didn’t blinded us, instead it was a refreshing sight, seeing the wonder of God’s creation on top of the mountain.
