After our trip up north, we went all the way down south… Puerto Galera.
“Happy days, happy days, happy days, happy days, we’re going all the way!” (Go All the Way-Into the Twilight, Perry Farrell)
My colleagues who traveled from our plant in Pampanga fetched me in our office at Ortigas. Then, we drove all the way to Batangas and slept over in one of our officemate’s pad. We woke up early in the morning and arrived at Batangas port in time for the first trip going to Oriental Mindoro.
Before this trip, we booked our accommodation at Agbing Resort via Puerto Galera Online Services. Upon arrival, we went looking for the person in-charge. We saw him but we’re told that there was a problem and that there were no available rooms for us. At least he gave our money back. 😦
The sky is gloomy on the island, probably sharing our dismay on what had happened. Tired and starving, we looked for another place to stay. Fortunately, we chance upon the owner of Buena Lynnes Store along the beach and told us that they have a new lodge at the back. Buena Lynnes Resort was heaven-sent. Aside from it is new, clean and spacious; it is much cheaper compared to the resort that we have previously booked.
We decided to spend the money that we have saved and experience what is in store for us on the island. So after eating, we changed clothes and off we went to the seaside. And the sun has finally shined!!! 🙂
There are a lot of beach activities on the island that you can choose, from banana boat ride to island hopping and snorkeling. We opted to do the last one. So we rented a boat and off we went to Coral Island.
Initially, we rented a large boat going to Coral island. Nearing the atoll, we transferred into a smaller boat because the larger boat may damage the (already damaged) corals. This was also the first time I did snorkeling.
Came nighttime, we did a group activity wherein we wrote on a piece of paper all the positive and negative characteristics that each one possess. Afterwards, we let everyone comment and explain their side. Good and bad traits alike, everyone accepted what was written on the paper without resentment from anybody in the group
Going to Puerto Galera would not be complete if you will not experience the “nightlife.” So after our activity, we loitered along the beachside, watched some fire dance, sang and drink in one of the stall.
This is one of the memorable trips I had because we only not enjoyed the beautiful island but we got the chance to know each other better. We left the island not as “officemates” but as “good friends”. 😉
