A Birthday Travel Treat for Lolo: Palawan Island & Puerto Princesa Airport

This was actually our (me and my travel hubby) second time here. The first time was with my officemates and now with my family in celebration of our grandfather’s birthday. Aside from my lolo’s birthday, we really wanted to go back because we were not able to reach Underground River due to storm “Ondoy”. And since this was our second time, we let my family go there first and had their Honda Bay tour and we followed the next day.

Palawan Province is one of the many beautiful islands in the Philippines and its capital is Puerto Princesa. Aside from its reputation as one of the cleanest province, with well conserve ecosystem and highly protected endangered species, Palawan gained its popularity after the proclamation of the Subterranean River National Park as one of the “New 7 Wonders of Nature” just this year.

Puerto Princesa Airport is one of the four airports in Palawan and is classified as an international airport. It may not be as huge and as modernize airport compared to Manila, Cebu and Davao but news has been spreading about the government eyeing its expansion and rehabilitation since the number of tourists coming here has increased.

About pinay travelaholic

A Filipina who loves to travel. Born with a family of travelers and started traveling when she was just 2months old. Raised in the hustle and bustling life of the metro but has savored the laid back lifestyle of the countryside during summer vacations. At a very young age, she has experienced being stranded on a train for 3 days, being thrown inside the window of the bus just to save a seat and “top loaded” (riding on the roof) on a PUJ just to reach their destination. …Traveling became her adventure since then.
