Aklan Journal: Kalibo, Malay, Boracay

Another promo from Cebu Pacific came my way and this time, I invited my 2 sisters and cousins to join us on our trip to one of the best beaches in the whole world…Boracay Island.

It was an early morning flight and we woke up late so we end up rushing to the airport. We almost miss the flight! Good thing Cebu Pacific was very considerate to let us in, exceeding the time allotted. Upon entering the plane, we saw less than 20 heads comfortably seated on their seats (probably one of the reasons why they opted to wait for us) 🙂

This was the first time we flew before sun rise and I was amazed seeing the view up in the air. We were like sitting in a cotton field while watching the rays of the sun gently rising from the clouds. This panorama made me appreciate the beauty of the skies.

Instead of Caticlan airport, we landed at Kalibo airport for two reasons: first, we wanted to visit Sto. Nino de Aklan and second, Caticlan airport was close that time.

Upon arrival, we hurriedly rode a tricycle going to Sto. Nino de Aklan to catch the Sunday Mass. Unfortunately we didn’t understand the mass for it was conveyed in their native language. But still, we felt blessed for not missing the plane and for landing safe and sound.

After the mass, we went straight to the van terminal going to Malay.

It was an hour and a half ride traversing the municipalities of Tangalan, Ibajay, Nabas and Caticlan. Upon reaching the municipality of Malay, we headed to Jetty port, the gateway to Boracay Island.

Boracay is practically a part of municipality of Malay but independent administratively. Upon disembarking, we rode a tricycle to Station 2 and looked for our accommodation. Boracay Courtyard is a sister company of La Carmela Resort, a modest lodge for budget-conscious traveler. We were able to purchased a group promo which includes free breakfasts and access to La Carmela swimming pool. The price surely slashed my budget for this trip.

So here we are at the famous Boracay Island…known for its white sand, a lot of beach activities, energetic night life and beautiful sunset. And here are some photos of the activities that we had:

Every trip with my travel hubby is relaxing and every trip with family is invigorating. Aside from this beautiful island, heartfelt laughter and bonding moments with my love ones made this tour very stress reliving.
