airport

Once landed at Tuguegarao Airport me, my travel hubby and siblings went straight to Callao Cave located at Peñablanca Cagayan. It’s roughly a 30 minute travel from the airport.

We were then greeted by the tour guide and assisted us at the registration area to pay for the entrance fee of P25.

Reaching the cave is quite difficult for feeble heart because you need to climb more or less 200 steps just to have a glimpse of the opening of the cave. But once you’re on top, you’ll be spell bounded with the enormous mouth of the cavern.

The first chamber also known as “the cathedral” has a big space with few benches and a small altar. Our tour guide said that some couples had exchange their “I Dos” in this place.

4

There are seven chambers all in all, five of which are navigable and the rest are not easily accessible. You need to have a breathing apparatus to reach the end of the cave.

Our guide also told us that this is the only cave where plants grow because most of the chambers have hole on top where the light from the sun can go through.

You can finish the tour from chamber one to five in less than 30 minutes.

About pinay travelaholic

A Filipina who loves to travel. Born with a family of travelers and started traveling when she was just 2months old. Raised in the hustle and bustling life of the metro but has savored the laid back lifestyle of the countryside during summer vacations. At a very young age, she has experienced being stranded on a train for 3 days, being thrown inside the window of the bus just to save a seat and “top loaded” (riding on the roof) on a PUJ just to reach their destination. …Traveling became her adventure since then.
